Baigou, in Hebei, is the other one — northern China's bag and luggage capital, and by volume one of the largest anywhere. The town and its surrounding villages produce backpacks, school bags, handbags, wallets, luggage and PU leather goods at enormous scale, with a clear identity: high-volume production at aggressive prices for the budget-to-mid-range market.
The supply chain grew out of local trading tradition. Fabric and PU material suppliers, hardware and zipper dealers, cutting and stitching workshops, and finished-goods factories all operate in the same area, anchored by the Baigou International Bag Capital wholesale market, where thousands of styles can be seen in a day. Factories suit long runs of straightforward constructions rather than complex premium builds. Against Huadu, Baigou is cheaper for equivalent budget product but has less design capability, less premium-materials depth and less international polish. Quality control is the price of the pricing. Stitching density, zipper quality and hardware plating are the usual corner-cutting points, and production can quietly downgrade materials from the approved sample. Many operations are village workshops behind a market storefront, so verify who actually makes your goods. Copycat and lookalike branded styles are common in the market; keep your orders clean of them.
