Where Jingdezhen trades on imperial-porcelain heritage and artisan craft, this eastern Guangdong city built industrial-scale production lines: it is the largest exporter of ceramic tableware in China, turning out hotel-grade porcelain, mass-market mugs, dinner sets, bone china and decorated ceramics for retail and promotional brands. The local tradition runs back over 1,300 years; the modern strength is efficient high-volume manufacture.
The cluster covers the full ceramic chain — clay bodies and glazes, mould-making, kilns, decal printing and hand-decoration, packaging — anchored by trading hubs like China Ceramics City. That completeness lets Chaozhou price competitively at volume while holding reasonable MOQs. Typical buyers are hotel and restaurant supply programmes, retail chains ordering dinnerware and mug lines, promotional-products companies putting logos on ceramics, and private-label tableware brands.
Chaozhou sits in the Chaoshan area, an hour from Shantou, whose port handles much of its export cargo and whose Chenghai district is the world's largest toy cluster — so buyers can cover ceramics and toys in one trip. Shenzhen's Yantian, about four hours away, serves consolidated shipments. Anyone wanting artisan, hand-thrown or premium-positioned ceramics looks to Jingdezhen instead, or blends the two.

Strongest for porcelain, new bone china, stoneware and decal-decorated product at consistent industrial quality. If your product is a repeatable ceramic SKU rather than an artisan piece, this is almost always the right city.

Quality variance between factories is large, so audit and seal production samples rather than trusting an online profile.
