The two cities function as one system: volume production in Wenzhou, premium lines here, with buyers choosing by where their brand sits on the price ladder.
The rest of the city's profile follows the same logic. One of China's original Special Economic Zones and among its most liveable cities, Xiamen is smaller in scale than the mega-clusters and tilted towards quality rather than output: stone and granite products drawing on Fujian's quarrying and stone-processing industry, electronics, ceramics, footwear and tea from the surrounding province, across roughly 10,000 factories. Buyers who come here tend to be deliberate about it, wanting Fujian manufacturing with a more polished commercial front end. Its port is one of southeastern China's largest, Gaoqi airport connects the city well internationally, and Quanzhou's sportswear cluster is ninety minutes up the coast.

Xiamen pricing runs higher than Wenzhou for eyewear, and it only pays off at premium positioning — commodity sunglasses sourced here are simply more expensive, not better value. Variety is narrower as well: for broad eyewear ranges, stock styles and aggressive price points, Wenzhou remains the deeper pool. As elsewhere, confirm frames are genuinely made in the workshop you are dealing with rather than traded in, and for acetate specifically, verify material grade. Quality acetate against cheap injection-moulded lookalikes is exactly the gap premium buyers are paying to avoid.
